PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology effective for improving the engagement performance of a clutch mechanism in a fastening tool. SOLUTION: This fastening tool includes: a motor 111; a driven shaft 117; a clutch mechanism 131; and a tool bit 119. The clutch mechanism 131 includes: a drive side clutch body 133 rotated by the motor; a driven side clutch body 135 provided on a driven shaft opposite to the drive side clutch body, moved in the direction of approaching the drive side clutch body together with the driven shaft to engage with the drive side clutch body and moved in the direction of separating from the driven side clutch body to release the engagement; and an engagement accelerating mechanism 161 for increasing the moving speed of the driven side clutch body to be higher than the moving speed of the driven shaft to engage the driven side clutch body with the drive side clutch body when the driven side clutch body is moved in the direction of approaching the drive side clutch body together with the driven shaft.
