<p>The roll bar (2) is of a u-shape and accommodated in a case behind the rear backrests (5) when not in use. In case of an emergency a system assembled of an actuator, a release mechanism (7), a holding frame, and a locking device are activated by a control signal. The rear window (4) of a modern convertible is normally inserted in an extremely shallow position, leaving no space for the extended bow (2). A glass breaking mechanism (9) either designed as an axially moving piston with a prong at the top or an adhesive with an integrated detonator medium holding the pane (4) facilitates the penetration of the window (4) by the bow (2).</p> |
