PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of surely expanding an optical image. SOLUTION: The projector is equipped with an image projection device which forms and projects the image consisting of parallel luminous fluxes, a first light guide 6 which expands one direction of the image from the image projection device and emits the same, and a second light guide which expands the direction orthogonal with the one direction of the image emitted from the first light guide and emits the same, and a screen which projects the image from the second light guide. The first and second light guides are equipped with a light incident and exit surface 61A constituted on a medium 61 different in refractive index from an optical path in which the luminous flux of the image progresses, and arranged to incline with the incident luminous flux, and a light reflection surface 61B arranged in non-parallel with the light incident and exit surface 61A to guide the luminous flux progressing in the medium to the light incident and exit surface 61A by reflecting the luminous flux. The images made incident on the light incident and exit surfaces of the first and second light guides are expanded in one direction and the direction orthogonal with the one direction in the process of being made incident on the light reflection surface by refraction and being emitted from the light reflection surface through the light incident and exit surface 61A.
