PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine compatibly achieving good drivability and reduction of impact force when a moving part abuts on a regulating part. SOLUTION: The control device 1 is provided with a variable valve lift mechanism 50 changing valve lift Liftin and regulating valve lift Liftin not to exceed a predetermined limit lift Linftin_L by making the moving part abut on the same, and a variable intake air quantity mechanism 11 changing intake air quantity. Control input ULiftin for controlling the variable valve lift mechanism 50 is calculated (S54) by predetermined control algorithm including disturbance suppression parameter POLE_cmd. When it is determined that the moving part 65 abuts on the regulating part 67a, the disturbance suppression parameter POLE_lf is established to make degree of suppression of influence of disturbance due to that smaller than parameter before determination.
