摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein a prediction error increases and an encoding quantity becomes larger since values of a pixel to be encoded and peripheral pixels in an artificial image dissociate from each other. <P>SOLUTION: A predicted value calculation portion 102 and a predicted value correction portion 103 regard multi-valued image data of each color component as the pixel to be encoded, and generate its predicted value from peripheral pixels. A prediction error value calculation portion 104 generates a 1st prediction error from the difference between the pixel to be encoded and the predicted value, a prediction error value correction portion 412 obtains a 2nd prediction error by correcting the 1st prediction error, and an entropy encoding portion 105 performs entropy encoding of the 2nd prediction error. A prediction error correction value calculation portion 411 generates a correction value for the 1st prediction error, using the 2nd prediction error value which is at the same position with the pixel to be encoded, different in color component, and already encoded, and the prediction error value correction portion 412 corrects the 1st prediction error based upon the correction value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p>
