PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute only information relating to newest road data by using less communication traffic, and to enable exact and appropriate route guidance to be carried out, based on map data that reflect this information. SOLUTION: A navigation system is provided, which is composed of an information-distributing server 10 and a navigation terminal 20. The information-distributing server 10 is equipped with a road information collecting means 14 and a map database 13 storing map data to be distributed to the navigation terminal 20. The existence of passage prohibition link is specified by the road information collecting means 14, and information of passage prohibition link is created and distributed to the navigation terminal 20. The navigation terminal 20 has a route search means 29 for searching the optimal route, from a desired departure place to a destination, and carries out searching of a route, while eliminating passage prohibited links from the map data, based on both the map data and the information of passage prohibited link which are distributed from the information-distributing server 10.
