PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging system storing or backing up data on a picked-up image in a storage device separated from an imaging apparatus, and to provide the imaging apparatus and a connection device, which are components of the imaging system. SOLUTION: This imaging system 1 is provided with: a digital camera 2 for storing data related to a capture image in a built-in HDD 30; an external HDD 4 provided in a body different from the digital camera 2; and a connection IF card 6 for connecting the digital camera 2 and the external HDD 4. A male parallel ATA connector 61 of the connection IF card 6 is connected to a female parallel ATA connector 31 of the digital camera 2 or a CF connector 62 is inserted to a CF slot 32, and a female serial ATA connector 63 of the connection IF card 6 is connected to a male serial ATA connector 41 of the external HDD 4.
