PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for the payment of an atypical article that enable speedy processing and does not cause environmental destruction resulting from the waste of resources. SOLUTION: A shopping basket 70 to which an RFID tag is fitted is used, and article information on an atypical article 60 that a customer selects on a sales floor 20 is written to the RFID tag of the shopping basket 70 which is carried to a checkout counter 30. Then a store clerk confirms the article information read out of the RFID tag of the shopping basket 70 by a read/write unit 34 and the article in the shopping basket 70 and performs payment processing through a POS terminal device 32.
