<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of exhaust emission in an exhaust emission control device and an exhaust emission control method for an internal combustion engine to purify exhaust gas by making exhaust gas contact a catalyst having a characteristic reducing oxidant when atmosphere is reductive. <P>SOLUTION: In this exhaust emission control device for the internal combustion engine, reducing agent is supplied to a contact surface side with a base material 12 in a reduction catalyst 1 through a reducing agent supply passage 15 provided in the base material 12 carrying the reduction catalyst 11 when atmosphere of the reduction catalyst 11 having the characteristic reducing oxidant when atmosphere is reductive is made reductive. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
