PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP having an improved electrode capable of minimizing the electric field interference between the adjoining address electrodes by adjusting the mutually different discharge characteristics for every discharge cell of red, green, and blue to the same level. SOLUTION: The PDP comprises a first substrate, a second substrate arranged in parallel to this, a barrier rib arranged between the first and the second substrates, a plurality of first discharge electrodes arranged in the discharge space, and a plurality of second discharge electrodes which are arranged in a direction crossing the first discharge electrodes and arranged below the barrier rib and in which a minimum region necessary for addressing is projected in the discharge space. Since a line of address electrodes are arranged below the barrier rib and a projection part of a minimum region necessary at addressing protrudes in the discharge cell, the area of address electrodes becomes narrow as a whole and a low current drive is possible, thereby undesired discharge is prevented.
