PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a zoom lens constituted of comparatively fewer lenses, also, having a desired zooming ratio and high optical performance. SOLUTION: Regarding the zooming lens constituted of, in order from an object side to an image side, a 1st lens group having negative refractive power, a 2nd lens group having positive refractive power and a rear group including one or more lens groups, wherein the 1st and 2nd lens groups are shifted at zooming, the 1st lens group is constituted of, in order from the object side to the image side, a 1st lens having negative refractive power and a 2nd lens having positive refractive power, and provided that the focal distance of an i-th lens group is expressed by fi, the focal distance of the whole system at a wide angle end is expressed by fw, and that at a telephoto end is expressed by ft, conditions of 1.5≤ft/fw, and 1.75<¾f1¾/f2<2.5 are satisfied.
