PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound insulation and absorption structure which retains acoustic isolation performance and further prevents weight and ease of construction from degrading and is low in cost and thin in construction thickness because the excessive increase in the construction thickness of a sound insulation and absorption material inserted into external walls of a building and traffic transport organ and internal walls partitioning adjacent rooms is undesirable for the effective utilization of the internal space of the structure. SOLUTION: The sound insulation and absorption structure is achieved by creating an acoustic reflection apparatus 30 constructed by sealing gas, such as helium, of the acoustic velocity higher than that of the surroundings, into a bag-shaped container composed of flexible materials, such as resins and metallic foil, hardly transmitting vibration, and a sound insulation and absorption apparatus 20 formed by filling gas, such as carbon dioxide, of the acoustic velocity lower than that of the the surroundings or gas, such as heated air, of small density, into the container similarly composed of the flexible materials hardly transmitting vibration, and by combining the acoustic reflection apparatus 30 and the sound insulation and absorption apparatus 20.
