<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device with which high uniformity of light emission luminance can be obtained securing high light emission luminance, and to provide a liquid crystal display equipped with it. <P>SOLUTION: LEDs 1 of the backlight device are arranged so that they irradiate light toward opposite peripheries 2a and 2b of a light guide plate 2, wherein the incident direction of the light irradiated toward one of the peripheries (periphery 2a) and an incident direction of the light irradiated toward the other periphery (periphery 2b) are in opposite directions to each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
