PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for highly accurately detecting the full filling of a waste toner collecting container. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a developing device (developing means) 2 for developing electrostatic latent images formed on a photoreceptor drum (image carrier) 1 by using a two-component developer, a developer discharge means for discharging the developer that is excessive by accompanying supply of the developer to the developing device 2 as waste toner from the developing device 2, a cleaning device (cleaning means) 4 for discharging it as the waste toner by removing residual toner on the photoreceptor drum 1, a waste toner carrying route 23 leading to the waste toner collecting container 31 by unifying discharge routes 21 and 22 of the waste toner, and a waste toner carrying screw (waste toner carrying means) 24 for carrying the waste toner to the waste toner collecting container 31 along the waste toner carrying route 23. The image forming apparatus is provided with a waste toner carrying control means for controlling the waste toner carrying screw 24 on the basis of a mixing ratio of a magnetic carrier contained in the waste toner.
