PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight and inexpensive cool box and a cooling unit constituting the cool box by providing the cool box capable of performing long-time storage at low running cost and freely setting a capacity, and the cooling unit constituting the cool box. SOLUTION: In this cooling unit 1, the body 3A of a stirling freezer 3 is arranged in the internal space of a heat insulating material-made casing 2, so that a heat absorption part 3C of the stirling freezer 3 is thermally exposed to the outside of the casing 2, a heat absorbing-side heat exchange means 4 is provided in the vicinity of the heat absorption part 3C so that the internal space of the casing 2 is allowed to communicate with the outside space of a heat insulating container 21, and the heat absorbing-side heat exchange means 4 is thermally exposed to the internal space of the heat insulating container 21.
