It is intended to provide a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) activator which is free from the problem of side effects, can be taken over a long period of time and has no characteristic flavor. Nobiletin is used as a PPAR activator. Nobiletin, which has an excellent PPAR activity and an excellent effect of promoting adiponectin secretion, is contained in a large amount in citrus fruits, in particular, Citrus depressa HAYATA indigenous to Okinawa. Because of having been taken over many years, citrus fruits are free from any problem in safety and have low caloric values. Thus, they can be taken over a long period of time. Nobiletin is tasteless and odorless and therefore it can be added to a food without damaging the characteristic taste of the food. Owing to these characteristics, nobiletin can be added to foods and taken. |
