The component has a housing and a functional unit arranged in the housing. Two connections (11, 12) are stepped out from opposite sides of the housing on different heights. The connections have different lengths and are guided outward along a side surface in a bottom side and run in the housing in a break free manner. The connections are bent along the side of the housing for forming surface mounted external connection. An independent claim is also included for a repressing tool for manufacturing an electrical component.
