PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head enabling thermomagnetic recording which can perform high density recording and a magnetic recording and reproducing device provided with the same. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with a magnetic disk 20, a light emitting element 14 being a heating means, and a magnetic head 2 detecting magnetic information from the magnetic disk 20. The magnetic head 2 is provided with a magnetic variation layer 4 of which the magnetic property is changed in accordance with temperature.
