PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read contents requested from a plurality of host units from respective device units and simultaneously output them to each host unit. SOLUTION: The read request of the contents from the plurality of host units are received, the read size and the read order of the contents are decided in accordance with output speed necessary for reproducing the contents without interruption by the host unit, the contents are read from a DVD drive 12 in a time division manner in accordance with the read size and the read order, after the read contents are accumulated in a memory 15, they are transferred intermittently to buffer memories 17 corresponding to the respective host units respectively, the contents are outputted continuously to the respective host units from the buffer memories 17 at respective output speeds, and thereby, the respective contents are reproduced without intermission in the respective host units.
