PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed controlling method for a coke conveying apparatus carrying coke and moving on a rail, and controlling the apparatus with a speed pattern comprising acceleration, constant speed and deceleration and stable to speed variation. SOLUTION: This speed controlling method controls the speed of the coke conveying apparatus carrying coke and moving on the rail at the controlled speed pattern comprising acceleration, constant speed and deceleration patterns. When the deviation (V0-V) between the commanded speed V0 and the actual speed V in the acceleration stage of the coke conveying apparatus is smaller than a preset level and the state is not continued longer than a preset period, the wheel of the coke conveying apparatus is judged to be in slipping state, and an antislip agent is supplied to the rail forward of the wheel of the coke conveying apparatus and the commanded speed V0 is maintained to the speed V1 at the wheel-slippage detection time.
