PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical filter press with enhanced cake recovery ratio by using a metal filter medium enabling quantity of washing water and clogging to be reduced. SOLUTION: The vertical filter press is constituted in such a way that a metal-penetrated belt 29 formed with fine holes of 0.1-0.5 mm diameters penetrating in the thickness direction is disposed in a prescribed arrangement with respect to a thin metal plate belt 28 of a thickness of 0.1-0.5 mm suspendedly trained over a stripping roller 24 and a guide rollers 2, washing nozzles 36, 38 are disposed opposite to each other at side ends of the reverse running position of the thin metal plate belt 28 trained over the stripping roller 24, and washing boxes 37, 39 covering the washing nozzles 36, 38 are disposed in the width direction of the thin metal plate belt 28. The fine holes penetrating in the thickness direction cause no retention of cake to thereby largely decrease replacement frequency of clogged filter medium. A flat surface of the metal-penetrated belt 29 facilitates washing, reduces water quantity, and accepts low water pressure. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
