An air conditioner having an indoor unit with an automatic air filter cleaning function. The air conditioner has an air filter for collecting dust in air and a suction nozzle capable of moving along the air filter, in a left-right direction of the indoor unit, and having a suction nozzle in which a suction hole for sucking dust adhered to the air filter is formed. Further, the air conditioner has an operation means for causing automatic cleaning of the air filter to be immediately performed or, alternatively, the air conditioner has an operation means for selecting the start and stop of normal operation including at least cooling operation and heating operation, which enables automatic cleaning of the air filter while the normal operation is stopped.
