<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a card reader/writer capable of performing reading of data, deletion of printing, and thermal printing for a thermal rewritable card on which visible information and two-dimensional coded data record are thermally printed on one side only. <P>SOLUTION: The card reader/writer comprises a CCD camera 11, a stopper 12, an erasing bar 9, and a printing head 8 at one side of a card 4 which travels on a travelling path 7 in a case 22. The card 4 inserted from an inserting and discharging port 3 is conveyed to a position of the CCD camera 11, two-dimensional codes on the card 4 are read out by the CCD camera 11, the read-out data is transferred to an information processing section 17, the read-out data is updated by update information from a key board 1 or an automatic update means, and both visible information print signals and two-dimensional code print signals are produced therein. Thermally printed past data is erased by making the card 4 completing reading of two-dimensional codes pass through under the erasing head 9, and the card 4 enters under a printing head 8.
