PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a soil solidifying agent exhibiting excellent solidification effect on weak soil containing particularly an organic matter in civil engineering and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The soil solidifying agent comprises an amorphous magnesium phosphate compound having the molar ratio of MgO/P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>in the range of 2.5-3.7. The soil solidifying agent comprises a mixture of an amorphous magnesium phosphate compound having the molar ratio of MgO/P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>in the range of 2.5-3.7 and an alkali metal chloride and/or an alkaline earth metal chloride. The method for producing the soil solidifying agent comprising the amorphous magnesium phosphate compound having the molar ratio of MgO/P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>in the range of 2.5-3.7 comprises reacting an aqueous solution of phosphoric acid or a phosphate with an aqueous solution of a magnesium salt at pH 9-10, filtering the reaction product, washing and drying the reaction product.
