PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vapor compression refrigerator comprising a Rankine cycle usefully using waste heat of heat generating equipment, capable of heating the heat generating equipment conversely when there is little waste heat of the heat generating equipment. SOLUTION: The vapor compression refrigerator in which refrigerant circulates in the order of a condenser 220, a pressure reducer 240, and an evaporator 250 by a compressor 210 and which exhibits the freezing function with the evaporator 250, is provided with the Rankine cycle 300 in which refrigerant circulates a pump 310 discharging the refrigerant, a heater 320 heating the refrigerant using the waste heat of the heat generating equipment 10 as a heating source, an expander 330, and a condenser 220 in this order and collects mechanical power with the expander 330, and a heat pump cycle 400 provided with a bypass channel 410 which has a throttling part 412 allowing to bypass the pump 310, in which the refrigerant circulates in the order of the heater 320, the bypass channel 410, and the condenser 220 by the compressor 210, achieving a heat absorbing function with the condenser 220 and exhibiting the heating function to the heat generating equipment 10 with the heater 320.
