PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb material as a novel structural material having shock damping and absorbing property, a good decorative appearance and resilience. SOLUTION: In this embodiment, the honeycomb core 1 is an aluminum honeycomb core. However, it can be formed of other materials including a steel, paper, a fiber reinforced plastic (FRP). Buckling is applied to at least part of the honeycomb core 1 in the direction of its height. Namely, buckling is applied to a rear end 1a of the honeycomb 1 by a predetermined impact load P from the front end to the rear end of the honeycomb core 1. By applying the buckling to at least part thereof in the direction of its height, the novel structural material is obtained which has shock damping and absorbing property, a good appearance and resilience.
