PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus capable of being automatically updated into an optimum display setup information. SOLUTION: The image display apparatus 1 is provided with an image forming means 441 which forms an optical image in accordance with input image information, control means 55 and 56 which conduct driving control of the image forming means 441 and a connection terminal 61 to which the image information is inputted. The control means 55 is provided with a display attribute information obtaining section 563 which obtains display attribute information that is outputted from a connected equipment 10 with the image information and represents the display attribute of the equipment 10, a display setting information section 565 which selects a plurality of the display setting information beforehand stored of the the image forming means 441 based on the display attribute information, a display setting information writing section 566 which writes the display setting information into a reloadable memory 52 and a display setting information output section 568 which outputs the display setting information to the connected equipment 10.
