PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens substrate for obtaining images superior in contrast, and to provide its manufacturing method for efficiently manufacturing the lens substrate, a transmissive screen provided with the lens substrate, and a rear projector. SOLUTION: The lens substrate 1 is provided with a coloring part 22 on a face side on which light is incident. The coloring part 22 includes a first region 221, and a second region 222 having the higher content of a colorant than that of the first region 221 and provided on a incident side more than the first region 221. When the thickness of the first region 221 is D<SB>1</SB>[μm] and the thickness of the second region 222 is D<SB>2</SB>[μm], the following expression: 0.1≤D<SB>1</SB>/D<SB>2</SB>≤80 is preferably satisfied.
