PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant thermoplastic polyester resin composition having excellent flame retardancy, good mechanical properties and molding processability, and excellent in appearance, low metal-staining properties, electrical properties (tracking resistance) and weatherability (reduced discoloration). SOLUTION: The flame-retardant thermoplastic resin composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic polyester resin, (B) 5-40 pts.wt. of a specific phosphinic acid salt, (C) 1-35 pts.wt. of a salt of a triazine compound and cyanuric acid or isocyanuric acid, and (D) 1-35 pts.wt. of a boric acid metal salt, wherein the weight ratio (C)/(D) is 1.0-10.0.
