PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary roll clamp device for unloading a columnar work onto a predetermined position, while avoiding an impact on the work without disposing a rolling stop means such as a stopper to an unloading surface position, when unclamping the work in a transverse attitude with respect to the unloading surface. SOLUTION: A rotation detecting means 7 detecting the rolling of the work 6 is disposed on a contact face side between the work 6 and a pad 44 attached to a tip of a long arm 43 of a pair of short and long clamp arms 4. During unclamping, detection of presence/absence of rotation by the rotation detecting means, and instructions for the long arm 43 to start/stop the unclamping operation are repeated.
