PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding method for a rubber roll and a rubber roll having favorable surface property obtained by the grinding method. SOLUTION: In this grinding method for grinding the outer peripheral surface of an elastic layer of the rubber roll where the elastic layer is provided on the outer periphery of a core bar shaft excepting both end parts, with the axial face of one end part of the core bar shaft held and fixed by a main shaft side collet chuck with the axial face of the other end part of the core bar shaft held and fixed by a tail side collet chuck, the rubber roll is rotated, and the rotated grinding wheel is brought into contact with that to grind the outer peripheral surface of the elastic layer of the rubber roll.
