PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a transmission loss of curved wires from the proximal end of an insertion portion to a sprocket without changing the direction of the curved wires and secure the abrasion resistance of the curved wires. SOLUTION: This endoscope apparatus 1 is provided with an endoscope 2 having a narrow and long insertion portion 21 with flexibility, a curving section 23 provided at the distal end of the endoscope 2 and curvedly operated, an annular drum section 3 windingly storing the insertion portion 21 on the outer circumferential face, and pulley units 153 and 154 provided in the drum section 3 and winding the curved wires 141 and 142 extended from the proximal end of the insertion portion 21 and the curving section 23. The pulley units 153 and 154 are disposed within an approximately fan-shaped area formed of a straight line from the proximal end of the insertion portion 21 forming a predetermined angle (θ) with the axis of the insertion portion 21 and the outer circumferential face of the drum section 3.
