<p>The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for distinguishing forged fingerprint from living human's real fingerprint, by using a laser beam. A method according to the present invention is comprised the steps of irradiating a laser beam to the object; detecting a pattern image produced where the laser is irradiated on the object; calculating an area value of the detected pattern image, and comparing the calculated area value to a predetermined reference value to determine whether or not the object being in contact with the fingerprint input window is a bodily fingerprint. Here, if the area value of the pattern image is greater than the reference value, the object is determined a bodily fingerprint, while if the area value of the pattern image is smaller than the reference value, the object is determined a replica fingerprint.</p> |
