PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an occupant from being discomforted even in traveling for a destination through a route which the occupant is familiar with while executing route guidance. SOLUTION: This car navigation device is set with two guide modes of a normal mode for guiding traffic-related information and route-related information by screen display and voice, and a route voice guide simplification/omission mode for guiding the traffic-related information by screen display and voice and guiding the route-related information by only screen display, or performing voice guidance simplified as compared to the voice guidance of the route-related information in the normal mode when guiding the route-related information by screen display and voice. When it is decided that a part or all of sections of the guide route from a present place (a departure place) to the destination is the route which the occupant is familiar with, the route voice guide simplification/omission mode is selected as the guide mode of the section, and the guidance according to the selected guide mode is executed when providing the voice guidance in the section.
