PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner superior in electrification performance and low-temperature fixability and capable of obtaining a high-quality image, a method for efficiently manufacturing the toner, an image forming method capable of improving the image quality employing the toner, and so forth. SOLUTION: The toner includes a polyester resin which has a total organic carbon elution amount of≤200 ppm/g (TOC amount) extracted from the toner after alkali-washing. The method for manufacturing the toner includes a toner granulation step for granulating the toner and a toner washing step for performing the alkali-washing until the total organic carbon elution amount (TOC amount) extracted from the toner after the alkali-washing amounts to≤200 ppm/g.
