PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intuitively grasp latest information in a category unit by reflecting and presenting a larger amount of topics of the world on the basis of the magnitude of the popularity of the latest information. SOLUTION: In this invention, it is determined whether topical words are extracted from collected documents, and when extraction processing is determined to be necessary, the words are extracted from the documents, the degree of words appearance is analyzed, words reflecting a topic are extracted, and candidates for topical words to be presented as a topical word are selected. Further, the number of documents is counted for each genre, the circulation amount of the document in each genre is calculated, the topical degrees of each genre are accumulated, the increasing degree of the topics for each genre is calculated by adding a document circulation amount of each genre, and the size of a genre area is set in accordance with the increasing degree and displayed.
