PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure smooth movement along guide faces of intermediate members and prevent vibration and noise from occurring when the top part of a cam rides over the intermediate members in a valve gear of such a structure that a drive force is transmitted from the cam to a valve through the intermediate members guided by the two opposed guide faces. SOLUTION: Two guide rollers 76 and 78 disposed concentrically to each other and rotatable independently of each other are mounted on the intermediate members 70 and 72, and the guide rollers 76 and 78 are inserted between the two opposed guide faces 82 and 84. The guide rollers 76 and 78 and the guide faces 82 and 84 are so formed that, though the first guide roller 76 is brought into contact with the first guide face 82 and the second guide roller 78 is brought into contact with the second guide face 84, the first guide roller 76 is not brought into contact with the second guide face 84 and the second guide roller 78 is not brought into contact with the first guide face 82.
