A plastics film stretching plant, in which the films are held on their longitudinal edges on transporting elements (specifically clamps) and are fixed on chains periodically circulating in the corresponding conveying paths, includes sensor(s) on at least one transporting element, for evaluating characteristic magnitudes of the conveying system and characteristic magnitudes of the transported film, the sensor(s) being coordinated with devices for transferring the sensor signals to a stationary evaluation unit.
