<p>The application describes a method for ethanol production, in which method a mixture containing fermentable sugars is fermented by means of a yeast. According to the invention, formic acid, propionic acid, sorbic acid, or benzoic acid, or at least one salt of such an acid, or a mixture thereof is added to the mixture before or during the fermentation in order to promote the fermentation reaction and increase the ethanol yield.</p> |
