The new feature is that carrier (20) of basket (2) includes, in addition to a gasification membrane (18), a microporous membrane-like coating (30) which, with a detachable base closure (24) and a covering element (19), forms a holder for receiving cell carrier material. (19) has a central aperture connected (by flexible line (6)), to a central aperture (9) in closure plate (3), so that basket (2), filled with cell carrier material, can be inoculated directly with the cells being grown.
