The implant (10), fitted between the spiny apophyses (3, 4) of two adjacent vertebrae (1, 2), consists of a body in the form of a simple loop anchored to the vertebrae by fixing lugs (12, 13) with holes for studs. The studs have tapering sides to fit in the holes and pointed tips to engage with the spiny apophyses. In variants of the design the implant body can be in a figure-8 or kidney shape, and the lugs can be fixed with pedicular anchoring screws |
