<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high speed and efficient processing in caching information relative to image data stored in an external recording medium by a digital camera. <P>SOLUTION: As regards image data managed on the basis of DCF specifications, unique ID is generated from the stored full path name, and used at the time of retrieval in a cache.
