PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film observation device which can prevent damages to the observation surface even when an optical film is disposed. SOLUTION: The film observation device 1 to observe an object film such as an X-ray photographic film is equipped with: a light source 2; a diffusing plate 21 to diffuse the light from the light source 2; optical films 22, 23 disposed so that the light transmitting through the diffusing plate 21 acts on the films; and an observation surface protection panel 24 which covers the optical film 22, 23 and which is transparent at least in an area A1 where an object film is to be laid.
