PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an electrochemical display element without carrying out a process providing a sealing material installing part on the four sides of a substrate by cutting an electrochemical medium small to be removed. SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing the electrochemical display element by sandwiching the electrochemical medium between the two substrates having electrodes includes a process (A) for making a dispersion liquid by dispersing an organic and inorganic composite of an organic polymer and an inorganic compound in an electrolyte; a process (B) for making the electrochemical display medium comprising the organic and inorganic composite including the electrolyte sandwiched by a filtering material and the substrate, by installing the substrate having the electrodes on the bottom part of a filtering container so that an electrode face is inside, introducing the dispersion liquid in the filtering container, installing a pressure plate providing a filtering plate so as to be in contact with a liquid face of the dispersion liquid, pressuring the pressure plate, and filtering the electrolyte in the dispersion liquid; and a process (C) for adhering another substrate on an exfoliation face of the electrochemical display medium by exfoliating the pressure plate having the filtering material from the electrochemical display medium.
