PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a periphery monitoring device for a vehicle capable of suitably supporting the operation of a driver by displaying images of a proper range according to a distance between a target position and the vehicle. SOLUTION: An arithmetic circuit 24 calculates the distance between a target parking position in a parking space set by a target setting part 20 and a present position of the vehicle received by a GPS receiver 18. Images are displayed on a display part 34 by changing an imaging direction of a rear monitoring camera 12 disposed in a rear part of the vehicle into a state for imaging remote images when the distance is long and a state for imaging images in the vicinity when the distance is short, respectively, according to the distance.
