A TIP MEMBER FOR A LASER EMITTING HANDPIECE

A tip member (10) for a laser emitting device that is designed to alter or ablate the skin of a patient. The tip member (10) has an optical pathway (14) and has a component (20) that reduces the diameter of a laser beam passing through the optical pathway (14) that has a diameter greater than a predetermined size. The tip member (10) can also be provided with a site identifier (28) that serves to identify where alteration or ablation of the skin of the patient has occurred following use of the device. A laser system (50) in combination with the tip members is also described.
