<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of reducing a sulfur component in hydrogen chloride fed to the production of chlorine to a level practically free from trouble in reaction even without performing the water absorption and diffusion of hydrogen chloride. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing chlorine by using hydrogen chloride by-produced when phosgene and primary amine are allowed to react to synthesize isocyanates, as the raw material and oxidizing the hydrogen chloride in the presence of a catalyst by catalytic gas phase reaction, is provided, wherein the content of a sulfur component in carbon monoxide serving as the raw material of phosgene is controlled to≤2,000 vol ppb. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
