PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development unit which can meet the requirements for turning high in speed, while maintaining high image quality. SOLUTION: This development unit exposes an image carrier to form an electrostatic latent image, uses a two-component developer containing non-magnetic toner and magnetic carriers, and has two or more rotatable developer carriers, consisting of conductive cylinders with built-in magnets to develop the electrostatic latent image. It uses magnetic carriers magnetized to 3.0×10<SP>4</SP>A/m or higher but 2.0×10<SP>5</SP>A/m or lower in the magnetic field of 100 mT.
