PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaner-less image forming apparatus which uses a charger of a contact type and enables residual toner to be surely recovered to a developing device without contaminating the charger. SOLUTION: A color printer 1 is provided with: a conductive brush roller 71 which is brought into contact with a photoreceptor drum 20 at a position downstream from a transfer device 60 and upstream from the electrifier 30, temporarily recovers at least a part of transfer residual toner on the photoreceptor drum 20 and delivers the recovered toner onto the photoreceptor drum 20; a charging electrode 73 facing the brush roller 71 at a position other than the contact position between the photoreceptor drum 20 and the brush roller 71; and an electric source 75 which applies voltage to the charging electrode 73, wherein the polarity of the voltage which is applied to the charging electrode 73 by the electric source 75 with respect to the average voltage after transfer of the surface of the photoreceptor drum 20 is the same with the charged polarity upon the development of the toner.
