PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and easily collect a benthic animal living in a quadrat, and acquire information for determining a habitat environment of the benthic animal from a river bed material. SOLUTION: A structure comprises a combination of the quadrat 12 placed on a river bed 10 and defining a collection region, and a collection section 14 provided with a server net located on the downstream side. In the structure, the quadrat has a steric frame 20, a metal mesh 26 is provided on an upstream face and allows water to flow in, panels 24 occlude both side faces, remaining faces are opened, and a transformable skirt 22 is attached along lower sides of the steric frame, fits in a shape of the river bed and isolates an interior from an exterior. The collection section comprises a plurality of sieves 50 connected so as to have meshes smaller in the downstream direction, and the server net 52 provided on the most downstream side.
